controlled environment system designed
and constructed for year-round food
production using aquaponics as its
main growing system. By integrating
nutrient-dense water from the
Greenhouse, the Garden at Timberview
Farmstead — a one-acre outdoor
regenerative market-garden — will grow
healthy, natural, and sustainable, seasonal
produce to pair with the year-round
production of the Greenhouse.
What is Aquaponics?
Aquaponics is a sustainable farming method that combines aquaculture (the
cultivation of aquatic organisms like fish) with hydroponics (the growing
of plants in nutrient rich water without soil). This combination creates a
closed-loop environment where fish and plants thrive together to produce
naturally grown, fresh, and local food.
